February 2025

I can’t really remember a time when I didn’t love photography and the visual arts in general.  I’m old enough to have been a long-time film user and darkroom enthusiast before making the transition to digital and Photoshop.  At some point my natural curiosity and wandering mind led me to experiment in Photoshop which eventually resulted in dabbling in digital art and the creation of repeating patterns sometimes utilizing photographs and other times things like fractals, scanned objects, and whatever else I can come up with.  I’ve also developed an interest in the so-called alternative processes such as Anthotypes, Cyanotypes, pinholes and others.  In short, in addition to traditional photography, I’m on a quest to find the most offbeat and unusual ways to create visual imagery that I can.

After years of living in various parts of the country from the west coast to the east coast I somehow ended up back in rural southeast Minnesota where I’m originally from.  Years ago, I had a website and blog for a time and with recent life changes the time seems right to start it up again.  My posts aren’t going to be a lot of technical stuff.  There’s a lot of information online that explains those things better than I can and where appropriate I will provide links to sites that I’ve found helpful.  I’d rather write about places I visit, the creative process, and my ongoing quest to find new ways to create.  I also love a good hike, especially when it’s going up, so I’ll be writing about that too.  Maybe 1 or 2 of you will find my ramblings interesting.  If so, I’d love to hear from you.
